The problem
Local café owners were losing significant margins to delivery aggregator commissions and had no way to build direct relationships with their customers. Manual phone and paper orders during morning rushes created chaos in the kitchen.
The solution
We built a customer mobile app and a streamlined order queue for store workers. Customers browse menus, customize orders, and check out securely. Workers organize orders into clear preparation tabs with photo-upload on delivery.
How we built it
- Created an intuitive three-screen customer flow (Home, Menu, Cart) for checkout in under a minute.
- Implemented a persistent checkout drawer and a delivery-nudge indicator to boost average order value.
- Designed a clean store worker queue divided into simple tabs (New, Processing, Completed).
- Added mobile delivery verification with photo handover to confirm order completion.
How we made sure it worked
- Tested the kitchen queue app in active cafe settings during high-volume morning rushes.
- Optimised menu search and order processing speeds on mobile to ensure zero transaction drop-offs.
- Confirmed photo-handover logged delivery proof instantly, resolving disputes smoothly.
Outcome
Cafés keep the customer relationship and reorder data. Average order value lifts when customers see the free-delivery threshold. Repeat ordering becomes a two-tap action.
